Last night at the GFSS gym, we witnessed a feat that has not occurred in many years. Our Senior Girls Basketball team defeated David Thompson Secondary from Invermere in convincing fashion to capture the Kootenay zone berth to the AA Girls Basketball Provincials in Kamloops, March 9-12. The team started the weekend by defeating rival and defending champion LV Rogers from Nelson. Congrats to the girls and coaches Shayne Konar and Sheryl Williams. We are still waiting to hear the results from the Senior Boys Zone playdowns in Kimberly.
The same evening, GFSS had two students compete in the top five of a talent contest in Castlegar to determine who would be chosen to open for Roy Clark during his local tour of the Kootenays. Amanda Thate and Nicole Del Alguila made the top five out of over 50 contestants, with Amanda winning the overall competition and will now open for Roy Clark on the evenings of March 12-14......awesome job girls. Hopefully the girls will perform one of their songs at our school assembly this coming Thursday.
On a final note, we are hoping to use this new blog format to keep staff, parents and students informed as we look to develop our next school improvement plan. Stay tuned for more information as we look for feedback from our school community on our future plans.
Hope you had a great weekend.

Future Direction
Today is the official first day of blogging using the new Wolf Report format to keep staff, students, and parents up to date on what is going on at GFSS and allow people to enagage in conversations about how we continue to provide our students with opportunities to learn within the 21st Century paradigm. We are hopeful that as we begin to look at our learning plans for the next couple years, that parents and staff will participate through this media to help us build our path together.
